Growald seeks an experienced energy and/or finance expert to support our growing Field Innovation team to catalyze new approaches and areas of work, particularly addressing ecosystem gaps in energy transition. About You

You achieve success by building consensus among diverse stakeholders to navigate into new frontiers. You creatively motivate individuals to leave their comfort zones to boldly address climate change. You create trust by having a deep knowledge and ability to communicate about energy or finance (or both!) and by systematically setting & meeting collective and individual expectations and program deliverables.

About the Role

The purpose of the role is to develop and help coordinate initiatives and plans that tackle the most difficult bottlenecks in energy transition, in particular in developing countries. We are looking for a motivated expert in the energy sector that can bring their experience and network to our team. This is a FLSA Full Time Exempt position, reporting to our Director of Field Innovation. Our preference is for this person to be based out of Boston, but other arrangements could be considered.

Our Field Innovation work engages the broader ecosystem of civil society and foundation partners to identify and address critical bottlenecks in countries’ transition from coal to renewable energy. We support initiatives that engage in areas such as climate finance, state owned enterprise transition, coal retirement mechanisms, and diplomacy, through strategic and diplomatic convening, research, and thought leadership and coordination.

This role will also provide the opportunity to interact with our grantees and support them in your areas of expertise, as well as learn from the incredible work that they are doing.

Key Responsibilities         

  • Provide input for FI priorities, work plan and funding priorities

  • Provide a first assessment and feedback of FI proposals and plans from Growald backed initiatives

  • Provide Landscape mapping and ecosystem research to identify opportunities, and develop grantee pipeline for FI and Venture portfolios

  • Support coordination among philanthropic partners in the field to identify key bottlenecks in energy transition and find initiatives that address them

  • Support and monitor FI initiatives amongst different stakeholders and grantees by, providing technical input, strategic planning, and developing deliverables

  • Develop strategic memos on philanthropic opportunities

  • Represent Growald at strategic meetings and convening

Qualifications

  • An academic background in energy, finance/economics or related field

  • At least 8 years of experience in energy and/or climate finance, or the energy sector

  • Strong strategic thinking skills with experience in the development and implementation of strategies

  • Experience working and coordinating with multiple stakeholders from different organizations, countries and backgrounds

  • Experience in policy making with government, think tanks, or multilateral organizations

  • Demonstrable writing, research, and presentation skills

  • Proven program and portfolio management skills

  • Experience with international organizations preferred

  • English fluency required, multi lingual preferred
